pipeline leak detector: a solution based on acoustic detection

As an important part of urban infrastructure, the operation of water supply pipelines is directly related to the daily life of residents. However, water leakage has always been a major challenge for water supply pipelines. In order to effectively solve this problem, we propose a solution based on acoustic wave detection of pipeline leak detector to achieve fast and accurate leakage localization.

pipeline leak detector

Water supply pipelines may leak to different degrees during long-term operation due to aging, corrosion, external forces and other factors. When the pipeline leakage occurs, the water sprayed out of the pipeline and the leakage mouth friction as well as the impact with the surrounding medium will produce different frequencies of vibration, which in turn produces water leakage sound. According to the characteristics of the water leakage sound, we can classify it into three categories: leakage mouth friction sound, head impact sound and medium friction sound. The frequency, intensity and propagation characteristics of these sounds provide us with the basis for judging the leakage situation and locating the leakage point.

In order to effectively detect and locate water leaks in water supply pipes, we used the acoustic wave detection method. This method is based on the acoustic vibration and other additional vibrations generated by the friction between the pressurized water rushing out of the pipe break and the pipe wall after the leakage of the pressurized water pipe, and is detected by the acoustic signal transmitted to the ground. By connecting the pipeline leak detector mainframe, headphones and sensors, the sensors are placed on the road surface above the pipeline and listened to at a certain pace length. When closer to the leak, the signal is stronger; the farther away from the leak, the weaker the signal. By comparing the signal strength between different points, the location of the leak can be determined.

In the specific operation, we need to consider a variety of factors, such as the direction of the leakage point breakout, the location of the pipeline, tees, bends, water pressure, depth of burial, buried layer and so on. All these factors will have an impact on the detection results. Therefore, in practice, we need to have a detailed understanding of the pipeline layout and the surrounding environment, and comprehensively utilize a variety of detection methods to improve the detection accuracy and reliability.

In conclusion, the water supply pipe leakage localization scheme based on pipeline leak detector with acoustic wave detection is an efficient and accurate detection method. By applying this scheme, we can realize the rapid localization of water supply pipe leakage and provide strong support for timely repair. With the continuous improvement of technology and the accumulation of application experience, we are confident to further improve the operational efficiency and reliability of water supply pipelines, and provide more stable and safer water supply services for residents.
